181 Miles on My Assault-Amazing Sled

Lenn i see there is a sidewinder in ur pic next to the assault.did u line them up
That's my brother Pete's Sidewinder....oh ya, lined them up 3 different times! 2 out of 3, I got the holeshot and he came by me at around 50-60 mph like I was standing still. The new Sidewinder is INSANELY fast. Fastest sled I've ever been on.

Righty tighty, lefty loosey, push it till ya look like Gary Busey.

That's how I learned it anyway.

All stock. I understand your concern. But....I've been clutching sleds for years and understand it as well as anyone on this forum. I'm going to test your clutching experience with a question....What do you read from the fact I'm over-reving a bit?
Maybe the clutch springs haven't taken their set yet.

rpm,s on new assault 800 seem,s like u have to beat the hill out of it to get more rpm,s. like 7 or 8 run,s of a 1000 ft go,s from 8000 rpm,s to 8200 rpms must be from the pipe getting hotter. got 90 miles on it . what r u guy,s seeing

Over 400 miles and 18.2 hours.

Toke it for a 181 Mile trip first. Suspension was a little stiff and wheelied way to much for me. Measured fts and mine was 1 3/8" on spring tension. Changed it to 1 1/8" for more ski pressure . All clickers at #2.

Went on my second trip that was 250 miles plus. Had all trail conditions. Tight twistys ,Junkers, little stretches, hard pack, soft snow.
Perfect for breaking in suspension . I had better ski pressure then stock after I changed it to 1 1/8" spring tension on fts. Still not enough ski pressure for me though as I like to rail the corners. It lifted a little . Changed fts to 1 1/16" and was better yet. Tried to bottom out fts and couldn't do it, so I'm going to turn fts to 1" now for more ski pressure and I'll be so close. I like to rail the corners but lift the skies too when on throttle. All my clickers are at #2. I only changed fts spring pressure. I'm liking it.

Suspension broke in around 350 miles. It was like a switch went off as it softened up. My buddy fretzy has the same exact sled with about the same miles. We both felt our suspensions break in on the same trail, lol . That was freaky.

Loving this sled

Brock do u think the pipe needs higher temp more loading to get more rpm,s out of the motor an could a guy just wrap the stock pipe up to the heat shield mine sure seem,s like u need higher temp in the pipe for more rpm,s. anyone eles have any idea thx great site

Almost 900 miles now. Suspension keeps getting more plush as the miles pile on. Great in the rough stuff...sucks up anything you throw at it. Had changed my weights to 10/68 because I was seeing 8500 rpm. Was perfect with them...pulling 8350-8400 no problem. Now it won't pull the weight...only revs to 8150-8200. I going back to 10/66 . I noticed around 24 hours the RPM's start coming down. Could be the stock spring has begun to sack. I have another spring (blue) so I will install that also. I ran a stock '15 Indy 800 on the lake. He was able to get me on top end. Sled wasn't reving...only 8100 . I'm sure if I had the stock weights, he would have not touched me. Lake was packed snow so traction was decent. Temps were about 17 degrees, nice and cold. Top speed recall showed 95 mph. Far cry from the 116 mph I saw 2 weeks before. I still think this is the best Polaris to date. :)

Just for kicks next time you are out throw on a new belt and see where your Revs are. My old 2012 assault would lose some RPM at around 900-1300 miles. A new belt usually brought it back.

1st thing I tried was a new belt. No difference.
