MY XCR 600 MY Assault 800
Some 2018 sleds have started to come in already! Last month I got a Switchback pro-s 800 and a Switchback Adventure 600. No snowchecks yet.

Can you post what changes you know of from the 17's ?

They made some changes to the 800 mill and nothing to the 600. The 2018 800s are getting a new thermostat, that you already know uses a new head. Top and bottom piston rings are now the same thickness. The engineers told me they switched due to a manufacturing issue, supposedly the manu. had a hard time keeping the coating on the 1.4mm rings and no issues with the 1.8mm. They added a check valve to the crankcase for the oiling of the water pump gear. The way I was explained that is now with the check valve, once the gear is satisfied with oil the valve will close then the oil will flow elsewhere. I asked about fuel mapping, their response is they're always tweaking mapping to make it better but should be similar to the 17's. We had some reed failures on a couple 17's and supposedly that was due to tolerance issues with the reed cage and they have corrected that problem. I can't remember if there's anything else. No new gauges, no new features, no new suspension. Their big focus this year was the Titan so a lot of their effort went into that sled for 2018. There's gonna be some new stuff for 2019.

There's probably going to be a new platform, not sure if just a new chassis or new engine and chassis. Just an educated guess, they'll have a new pro-rmk. They lost some market share to the 850 last year, and cat is catching up pretty quick, the new mtn cat is as close to a pro-rmk as they've ever been. You better believe Polaris isn't going to sit back and lose sales to the competition in the mtn segment, that's their bread and butter.

They also did some really weird stuff with options for some models this year. Example, switchback assault 800 with 2" track is only available with E.S., and I'm pretty sure XCR switchback is only available with E.S. of course unless you snowchecked then you could get w/ever you want.

Good deal. I'm not a mountain guy. I like fast trail long runs. Still hoping the day that they can produce and modern day xcr triple. Then it will be fun again!

I don't see them doing anything big with the chassi on the rmk. It's really only 3 years old with the trail sleds being 4 next year. Prly come out in 2020 for a 65th anniversary sled with a new engine

If you count actual riding seasons, this is the going to be the 4th season/year on snow for the AXYS chassis.

The 600 engine received an update via the center bearing is now in an oil bath also common with the new 800H.O.
