2001 Polaris XC SP 500
Hi, I recently bought a 2001 Polaris XC SP 500, it isn’t an edge. I’ve read online and found that it should be around a 10 gallon gas tank but I can only fill it to be a 5 gallon tank. Is the gauge really wrong or does it have a 5 gallon tank? I just can’t seem to find any information on the tank size.

Do you have a picture of your sled. Sounds like someone swapped out the original tank with a race sled gas tank which is a lot smaller.

This is the sled and it’s gas tank

That's a stock tank should be about 12 gallon. Where you filling it from empty when you only got 5 gallons in it? If someone changed out the gas cap gauge with a aftermarket one not a polaris oem one they dont read right becuase of the tappered tank.

I would fill it up when the gauge said it was empty. I was always afraid of trying to keep going in case I would get stranded on the trail.

yours is aftermarket wont read right. this is oem 3/4 is about your half mark.

dealer can get them about $50.00, Amazon has one $47.00 free shipping, try to avoid ebay they sell mostly aftermarket serch ( Polaris 2521495). make sure it says OEM look at the gauge face.
