Getting a PCV with ignition control for my axys 800. I was reading about it and looks like you can set up a launch control using it.

My last sled was a IQR race sled that had the dragon button. I think this works pretty much the same way? Set it right before clutch engagement and hold the button until flag drops. Gets the pipe hot and has you right at clutch engagement. You think it would work on the axys without breaking anything? Its pretty hard on reeds

I am thinking I can buy the polaris dragon button. I am assuming is 2 wires normally open? Run one to PCV Input, and other to ground. Set the PCV configurations up and about 4000 rpm setting. and the button should work hold it and stutter only going to 4000 rpm until let off button. Maybe you guys with more experience with the PCV what do you think? I know the axys is way more complicated with the ECU and EFI wonder how many diagnostic codes it will throw lol

The little bit I read on a quick search it was used on a 4 stroke raptor. Not the same maybe like what a NHRA Prostock uses?Sounded like a rpm limiter not a stutter box? Didn't look any further

Yes in the link I posted was used on quad. Those guys with motorcycle type vehicles hook it to the clutch switch to control there launch rpm so they can get better traction. Hold on clutch and hold it wide open and dump it. For sleds cvt tranny you put a button on handlebars and can set it before clutch engagement rpm so you can hold it wide open on the line and soon as you let off button clutch bites your gone. Not to mention pipe is hot. This comes on Polaris race sleds if you ever seen Snocross race at the start there all wide open making a backfiring sound. It's real hard on reeds.

Not sure it would even work who wants to try it and let us know lol

What you are referring to on the SnoX sleds is what I refered to. A stutter box. It kills some of the ignition cylces and or retards the timing greatly. This puts some raw fuel in the pipe. It burns then causing the backfire which heats the pipe more . Release it and your into the powerband sooner because of the hot pipe. There is a little more to it, but that is the basics

Yep in doing so it also limits rpm. I'm thinking that is what the pcv does retards the timing. That'd why it has to be the pcv with ignition control to use this feature.

any results with this ? this would make a perfect match for a turbo trail sled. If it works as you say it will build boost as well allowing you to launch harder than your NA buddies and drag them as far doen the feild or lake as you wish !!!!

I have seen the big gun Yammie turbos run stutter boxs

I might have to try it when my pcv comes I'll be sure and let you know I'm just worried with all the sensors and what not the ecu is going to be pissed off lol

Hello there.

i have a pv5 aswell. I have talked to som support guys and stuff to get the lounchcontrol to work on my rmk assault.

in my pv5 unit the yhe lounch controll do not exist. Support guys tell me that it dosent exist becouse the software dosent have it.

so i was wondering how you got it to work after reading the thread

There are 2 kinds of pcv. Do you have the pcv with ignition control? If yours doesn’t have ignition control you won’t have launch control

I have the one with ignition. 19-032.

when i have it connected to the computer and follow the instruction where the launch control setting are. It dosent appere inn the window where it should be..

I had this setup when I was running the pcv setup. It does work how ever it seemed slow reacting when you would release the button. I think you will need to tune a map just for launching off the button that is leaner as it is just limiting rpm by retarding timing causing an over-rich condition. I was told this is very hard on the reeds but did not have any issues in the short time I ran it. you could run a map switch and toggle between a standard map and map adjuted for launch control with it enabled.
