The stock pipe from factory pipe is very well made from low end corner to corner (7-8000 rpm). It's hard for the pipe makers to beat the hp and torque from 7-8000 rpm. To me this is important. This is not a bash against any pipe maker. It's just the plain truth. I jotted down some comparisons from stock pipe to pipe makers and you'll see the hp and torque lost in different areas .
Have a look and chose wisely
 
Thanks for all the testing and posting of results you do Brock. I decided to run the Jaws single for these reasons.

#1 No fuel controller required
#2 Seemed like the best balance between good peak hp, and not too much lost in the mid.
#3 Held good power of 160ish for extended long runs without any sign of deto
#4 they are a Canadian company. No disrespect to any of our southern brothers..but I just prefer to not have to deal with the hassles of cross border shopping.
 
You can see the slp and jaws don't give up to much power to factory pipe(pun intended) lol

Some times it's not about the big end number. It's about not giving up power and making a wide power band .

This is what's important to me!

So, don't make fun of your buddy with the slp pipe because it doesn't have huge big end numbers
 
Thanks for sharing very interesting. SLP and Jaws look like a very good choice for real world riding. Bragging rights drag racing the top end pipes are way to go I think and I believe 5 hp or so lost in mid range you can't really feel the seat in pants difference.
 
SSI stainless pipe looks promising. Though I haven't gone over number to number through the range yet.

Losing hp and torque after valves open is a big deal when comparing.your gonna see that difference on a timing system no matter what it makes on the big end. You don't ride that big end hp number down the track



Best race pipes are what carry you through with torque first and hp . So the pipes that have the most hp and tq after valves open will spool up quicker to your target rpm and get the power to the track for better et. Even though after engagement it may slam in at 8000 or 8100, etc , it's what got you to there in that quick time frame from engagement. So it's not always the big end number pipe that wins.

Do you still think there was more to be had in the mid-range on with the Jaws pipe that was due to testing on the 2017 (break in mode) rather than the 15? It is hard to determine that since it's not apples to apples across the board. I suspect that the Jaws pipe on the 2015 should be similar as most other after market pipes as compares to the Fact pipe. (and without tuning)
 
So looking at DTR...the SSI stainless pipe gained everywhere and had peaks at almost 166.

Wouldn't this be the best option?

Here's the thing about that pipe, it's the same as the pipe mod ssi makes . It's a good drag race pipe for no longer than a 1/4 mile as it will probably det .?
But for everyday trail, it det's to much . I stopped most of the det by adding fuel everywhere.
It's not a friendly bolt on pipe and just go riding
 
I see. So if you had constant access to great fuel in a perfect world, then it would be great. But for the trail, its tricky.

How does porting and head effect the likes of a jaws, bikeman, etc. Do you get the lost power back and keep the top end?

I had SSI pipe and it ran awesome for a little ways until pipe got hot and DET Limp mode. It sucked bad. Dyno's amazing power but real world good luck tuning it!

What is the story with the Straightline Performance pipe? Rumor is there original version also had the internal stinger design and that is how they got insane HP on the dyno. But the Final production version they removed the stinger all together which is why they make 0 HP?

I did this so people would see the way power is distributed from mostly after valve opening(7250 rpm)

It's not a bash or a praise , it's just the truth . especially since we've done a 15,16,and 17

Erik must have built me a special pipe mod when he did it. I got 1500 miles on a 15 and maybe seen det 3 times running it back to back 5 to 7 times at st germane and the weinie roast. This thing rips!!! Out ran a lot of sleds with more mods and took 3rd with it in the pump gas shoot out this past year in st germane!!! Maybe it doesn't work for everyone but I'm sticking with it!!!!
