Mine is just below the headlight on the plastic...with the mid mountain shield, it won't stick. I asked a LEO a few years back and as long as its visible on an upper area on the front of the sled, they are good with it.
Anyone who snowchecked an Assault get an email from Polaris regarding your production date, or did you have to contact your dealer? My 17' came in late October last year, so guessing it will be roughly the same this year.
The biggest recommendation i have is to let the sled idle up to 100 degrees before touching the throttle....every start. Expect to have a fresh top end rebuild around 5,000 miles. Not expensive if you can do it yourself.
I've got basically the same sled, and when its warm, this thing drinks oil like its a lush.....there's time it would go through a quart every 80-100 miles. Not as much when it was colder, but still a lot. And this is with my kids running it.
My buddy was always about a gallon to the plus side compared to me each fill up.....it equated to about .5 to 1 mpg more....we both ride pretty aggressively and I don't like giving him or that sled any more credit than they already give themselves, but that's what I found on my 17' 800 Assault...
Is anyone heading to Hay Days this year? Sept. 9th/10th
Heading to look for bibs, a new helmet, maybe a fuel can, etc. Nothing huge, but heading out more for the atmosphere.
