Jaws pipe. ?

Just got back from Quebec want to say big thanks to the Doc for helping me with my set up 600 Miles on the Jaws pipe 800 miles on the sled didn't miss a beat gas mileage was great was running the sled in all different temperatures from -2 to plus 8 and from breaking Trail to wet snow got very limited time on good condition for traction caught a good login road see 111 but rpms 8600 so i lifted we had two other axis in our group bikemam and a pipe mod when conditions were really bad I lost 600 Rpm the other two 1200 to 1400 Rpm
all of this was run in non eth thanks again Doc and Brock for your knowledge beers on me somewhere next season

Glad you had fun and ran as its supposed too.
Clink clink,beer cheers

just emailed you bunner with the spec sheet

What kind of clutching and gearing specs were recommended? So it is recommended to run 91 octane fuel but in non-ethanol mode? Is a programmer a requirement for a 2016 and if so, is there a fuel map for it?

The pipe comes with a primary clutch spacer for under the spring, that's it. 15, you can probably get away with non-eth mode with good fuel. A 16 he recommends eth mode and good fuel. No programmer needed, there is s little power to be had with the PCV if you so desire

Hmm....sounds a little too good to be true. The clutching specs were a little weak on the stock setup. Why not replace the soggy stock gold spring all together instead of just adding a shim?

You would think that if there was 8hp to be found that there would be some modification to the clutching?

The one that Mr. Indy emailed to me is only different from the other one that is posted because it says run in Eth mode. Other than that there the same ..

Just call Jaws i am sure they will be happy to email it to you or pm me your email i will email it to you

Hey guys, just resurrecting this thread from a few months ago.

I'm getting the itch to add this pipe to my '16 since it seems to be the only one that I have read about that doesn't seem to lose power when the motor gets heat soaked and more importantly, is decently reliable. Awesome feedback from Brock and Heath on this pipe. I'm getting to the age where I don't want to be dickin' around with performance add-ons during the season. Just want to put gas in it, start 'er up and go.

My gut is telling me that this pipe will offer some massive mid-range improvements the most.

Anyways, a few questions that come to mind are:

How's the fit/finish of the pipe when installed onto the AXYS chassis?
Not interested in running a PCV or different exhaust can. Will the pipe create more noise at all when exiting out of the stock exhaust can?
Am I OK running my tweaked gearing (23/40) and clutching set-up or will changes need to be made there?

It's been slow on the site lately, so I thought I'd get something going....

Interested in the reply to Johnny B. He is describing me also!

Can't go wrong with Gregs pipe, plane and simple. The fit is now corrected where it used to run on the right side front bumper, he has addressed that issue. Invest in the ceramic coat, not that it helps much for heat retention, it does keep the pipe in nice shape. Do not need a PCV, repost ur setup , sled will need to run above 8400.

The fit and finish as I've seen is very good. Jaws has allowed enough clearance around the pipe so as not to cause any issues. I can't see it being any louder than it would be with the stock can as it does a very good job as muffling noise. There may be some slight noise increase under the hood since the pipe is not heatshielded/insulated....but doubtful it will be noticeable.

I spoke with Greg and said the pipe is safe without a programmer in ethanol mode. He even recommended against using one since it would delete any fail-safes that Polaris would have implemented. A programmer would be a benefit with additional mods......to the tune of a couple of HP.

The gearing will be a benefit. IF I worked well with the stock configuration, then it will only compliment the pipe setup. I suspect there will definitely be minor clutching changes required since the pipe does need to run 8350-8450.

Awesome stuff guys. Yes, Greg did say the additional power will increase WOT RPM to about 8400-8500. He is only recommending the ethanol mode on the 2016's since they were leaner than the 2015's. 2017's he will wait until production machines are released to make any changes, if it's even necessary.

Heath, my primary has the TEAM white 120/310 spring and 10-70 Poo weights. Greg's pipe comes with a primary spring washer that he said to only add if you're running the stock Poo gold spring. Otherwise, ignore it. I've already increased the spring rate by going with the 120/310. Am I OK running the 10-70's here? I'm a lighter rider @ 175 w/o gear. Secondary is outfitted with a 50-44 FP and a TEAM 140/220 spring.

With only the gearing and clutching changes that I've made, the sled runs like an animal. I can only imagine what Greg's pipe will incrementally add to it.

Greg did mention that something is in the works to cover the hi temp black painted pipe that anyone can add at any time. I'm sure it'll be available soon.

Also, unrelated in a way. Polaris issued a Team Tip back in Feb of this year for some type of ECU reflash on 2016's experiencing hard starting, low RPM's, etc. Greg said DO NOT have the dealer reflash the ECU unless the problem is consistent. Live with it is the bottom line here.

Racer Dave and I reside in IL. The pipe + shipping to our neck of the woods would be $449 USD (converted from CAD). That's tough to justify since I've never had good luck with pipes in the past.

Did he elaborate on that? I plan on getting mine reflashed

From what I was told (but not confirmed) is below:

Team Tip S-16-02-03 was issued by Polaris February 25, 2016. This tip helps with troubleshooting Low Engine Idle and Inconsistent starting/restarting problems on MY16 800HO snowmobiles. Technicians are encouraged to install MY16 reflash calibration 4016413.
