2024 Polaris S4 XC 137
I’ve been riding my 2024 Prostar S4 XC 137 for two seasons now. It works well and I’m generally happy with it for how I use it. I’m almost always on groomed trails. I ride regularly with a 2017 Skidoo 900 Ace. It is faster, quieter and gets 30-35% better fuel economy. Has anyone else experienced this? I’m curious if that is a normal fact or if maybe my sled is a little off some how.

I don't own one myself but have rode with a few people that own them. The Ski-Doo will always get better mileage and be quieter in 4 strokes. I ride with many Ski-Doo owners and the 2 strokes always use less fuel also. All of the people I ride with are happy with the overall performance and durability of the Polaris 4 Stroke other than top speed so Polaris needs to do a little more work if they plan to compete in the 4 stroke market.

I saw your post elsewhere asking this, the only thing no one mentioned and I would add is to check all the driveline alignment. Make sure everything is turning smooth.
Also I'm willing to bet Polaris has a very fat tune being those are newly released motors and they didnt want warranty issues right out of the gate.

Thanks for the insight … On a recent ride, I compared my rpm’s to a Skidoo 900 Ace normally aspirated sled. The S4 was 6900 at 80km/h and 7800 at 100km/h in comparison to the Skidoo at 5400 and 5800 respectively. I’m assuming an obvious difference between the Polaris with 2 cylinders to the skidoo’s 3.

Damn, they have that thing wound up tight at speed. The Doo is like its in another gear, like when the auto mfrs went from 3 speeds to 4speed overdrives back in the 80s.
Sounds like theres something to be gained there in clutching or gearing depending on the motors torque output down lower.
