I am in the same boat. My first polaris in 20 plus years. Was at the toronto sled show on Friday and spent a lot of time at the polaris section with dealers and engineer, asked them the same questions about starting point with the suspension.

Yes they were very confident when I spoke with them also. Even thinking about stepping up to stage 2 and getting the head . Maybe just 1 step at a time ? We'll see.
Pulled the trigger today and bought the Bikeman stage 1 performance kit. Kit includes primary and secondary springs, arms weights helix, bullydog tune and pipe . Pipe should be in 3 to 4 weeks Leed time . Sled should be in around the same time. Fingers crossed!!!
Once you start changing pipes and adding fuel controllers I would think it a must.
This way you don't leave any power on the table after investing so much coin a few extra bucks on the dyno goes a long way.

Once my sled comes in and I get it broken in , I am off to see Jim at DTR fore sure not far for me only 120 km away for me.
I think dyno is the way to go . Once you have that info it saves you lots of guess work!
Seriously looking at the Terra Alps pipe and the Bikeman. They both are claiming...
That's what I am hoping for. Last season I put 3700 miles on my XRS Renegade . It is the best sled I have had to date, lots of power, that rear skid just eats bumps all day long, the only downfall is the front end steering.
Even with the RAS2 . If you set it up loose in the front it pushes thru...
Couple of questions.
How much louder are the SLP pipes over stock?
And how many miles have you put on your sled with the SLP pipes.
I love HP but don't like giving up reliability I ride about 4000 miles a year and this is my first polaris in 25 years.
