    Break in

If the dealer prepped it correctly , it should have extra oil in the first tank added and with that said, ride it for about 15 miles (1 hr or so) listening and watching temp and up and down on the throttle to include Wide Open at times. After that check it over and then "Ride it Like You Stole...

    0.250" compression height w/shim

WOW 82 grams is a bunch!! What about the weight of just pistons as most of us would probably opt out of using the TI pins, although it is a great idea but $$ part might be the factor here. I assume the 584 g piston on the right is the AXYS? gtwitch in wyoming

    0.250" compression height w/shim

Brock, Give/send along the contact information for Kelsey so I can contact and/or look at the info and what do these pistons weigh and what does the pin weigh?? I assume these are the same length/height (compression height) as the Polaris piston. I do not yet have the weight of the new AXYS...

    0.250" compression height w/shim

Also another cause could be piston taper where the top where the rings are could be enough smaller that this could cause rings to flex at the time of the start of the burn (TDC), Something to consider. Thighter tolerence design as mention earlier in this thread! gtwitch in wyoming

    0.250" compression height w/shim

My opinion only here ,but, I think this type of ring end closure, the ring closure is asymertically on the axys of the ring and tends to roll or flex and the two or three sets that i have taken out because of scuffing in line with the closure (both on the piston and cylinder) supports my...

    0.250" compression height w/shim

Brock, Look at the photo of Gen 2 piston along with PRO/AXYS and the ring closure/pin (pin being in the center of the ring groove) and compare with Weisco when you get them and this is what I am talking about. The Weisco that I will forward along the photos of will show the scuffs and unusual...

    0.250" compression height w/shim

Brock, I have pistons from old Gen 2 2000 and up and they were no problems and never used aftermarket on them. I just went out to the shop (12 mi west of town) and picked up the pistons to photo and will post them when I can and these are the ones that had (IMO) the problems with the wrong...

    0.250" compression height w/shim

Dr. What kind of really good (secret) stuff are we waiting to see comming down the pike?? Back to my ring end gap comments, I had 2 weisco sets with this ring end closure issues, ie. there were scuffs on the cyls in line with the ring end gaps and the ring ends show some rolling or tilting...

    Multi Pipe Days

I have made many more that i would like for twins and tripples in past and in the mid 90s I did some comparisons with factory sets of twin pipes and single pipe on twin polaris 600s and 800s and for Drag racing the twins on the mid 90s and 2000s did make more power and they were very rpm...

    0.250" compression height w/shim

Another thing that I have discovered about some of the aftermarket pistons is that some of the other manufacturers Wiesco and at least a couple of others to include first gen of Snow-X used or still use the ring end closure that tapers under the ring end pin which is not exactly in the center...

    0.250" compression height w/shim

I just got off the phone with C V tech and according to the person I spoke to (not very understandable english on that end) the Woosner p/n for 08-10 800 CFI 4 Dragon and the 11-15 PRO RMK 800 CFI 2 piston is K 7044 DA-2 and they do not have a replacement for 16-17 AXYS RMK 800 but I suspect...

    0.250" compression height w/shim

Brock, The idea of getting the pin height closer to the top of the piston is where Indy Dan has gone with the long rod crank by using a longer rod and a shorter (stock Polaris) Compression Height and this accomplishes what you are talking about and I assume he is using a spacer plate to now get...

    0.250" compression height w/shim

If I have read most of Indy Dan's and understood those writings, what you guys are saying is basically just what Dan has said also, that being, to get away from longer compression height and back to stock pistons and maybe find better tolarences (thghter) and pay attention to warm-up procedures.

    91 non mode?

I just go to the airport and get a 5 gal can of AV 100 lo lead and supplement about 2 gal av gas to 9 gal non eth 91 and this seems to never set DET on sled. Running Stage 3 SLP with heads, pipe and PCV and of course clutching of my own chioce! Most of the time we run between 8600 and 12000...

    Switchback 2012 600 oil problem

Sounds like someone has had the throttle body off or unhooked from the oil pump and when they hooked the rod from the pump to the throttle body back it was not on the correct side of the oil pump and pulling up on the left side of the pump rather than the right side (has happened to me) and...

Reliability Kit wich one to use

AFM, I was putting my own oil retaining grooves on pistons (turning them on the pistons on the lathe .005 deep with my custom tooling bit .020 wide and round tip, so as not to have a stress concentration point at the bottom of the groove) in my race engines over 25 years ago and learned then...

Reliability Kit wich one to use

I have not been able to locate the PN for Wossner Piston to use with Shim kit (taller Piston) and I doing one right now and would like to use cast piston. I am not familar with TAR Where and how to locate a piston PN ?? I had Snow-x and had a lean condition due to not changing fuel filter...

Engine Light and Oil Light On

If the ride was only 10 miles, you will not see much oil drop in the reservoir, Maybe 1/4 inch or less. The best way is to make a mark on the reservoir with a sharpie and then fill to the mark upon returning and measure carefully the amount put into the reservoir, then you will know the ratio...
