I ran my Assault against the INDY 850 the next day and the Assault is even quicker up top. I changed to a 1:74 ratio on my INDY and I pulled away even better on top end.
My Buddy has since tried 3 different gear combos on his 850 and nothing helped top end. We are at the conclusion its the 2:86...
Made some runs today with my Buddy on his INDY XC 850. Here's the full details on rider and sleds.
INDY 850:
Rider-235lbs
SLED: Clutching-Secondary changes only. Top end RPMs 8200-8250. Electric start. Camso 1.5" Lug
INDY 800:
Rider: 195lbs. Electric start-no battery in sled.
Extended to a...
Try bleeding the cooling system 1st. Raise the front end of the sled in the air about a foot or a bit more. It helps get the coolant through the tunnel coolers easier/quicker. Make sure your coolant is at the proper cold mark when starting it up. As it gets up to temperature, use the bleed screw...
I’d drop the finish on the primary spring to a 320. I can’t remeber for sure but I believe the SLP pipe on these engines make power at 8200-8300.
I ran the 70-44-46 with that same secondary spring on my Indy and it pulled real Good with the SLP Pipe.
Remember the 11-68s are a good drag racing...
As mentioned go over all the plugs again, If that doesnt fix it...
The 5 flashes is usually the EGT sensor. But you replaced that. But loosen off the sensor and lightly snug it too and see if that works.
I would lean towards the Voltage Regulator. Is there another dragon’s around you know of...
Try that gearing 1st and see how you like it. It’s a 1:86 ratio. I run that ratio with different gears in my 2015 INDY 800 with a 136” skid and it’s arm pulling performance.
I know a couple guys with 850s been racing and the 1.5” lug is out performing the 1.25” lug.
This is loose snow...
Ok ya that's a 1:74 ratio. IMO I think that will be a good combo for the 129" skid and good top end MPH on either the 1.25" or 1.352" lug track.
What track did your sled come with and what gearing?
The 41/22 1:86 gearing will be fine for the 1.5” track.
If you wanted a 1.5” lug then you’re obviously not concerned about top end.
I ran the same ratio in my Modded Engine 136” x 1.5” lug, INDY 800 and it pulled damn hard.
The 850 motor should have long legs with that gearing. For the 1.25" lug I think it will be a good choice, anything more will cause excess spinning. If you could get the traction, I myself would rather a little lower gearing for some extra arm pulling power.
No differences in the 2015-2016 Pro Ride Assaults. Make sure its using oil at a ratio of 50:1 range. Also add oil to each full tank. I just dump a cap full in each tank or at a ratio of 100:1.
Keep your engine temps below 150 degrees. Do a compression check as you would do buying any used sled...
Well since Summer is just over, and the 850s aren't delivered yet, there's really not much action on any of the Sled sites. This site is Polaris only so that will limit the traffic. But that's a good thing because we can avoid the BS from other Jealous Brand owners.:Die
Polaris stopped giving HP numbers after 2009. It does them no good to publish a number because 98% of Snowmobilers cannot comprehend that 5 different dynos will all give different numbers with great variances. But since Polaris seems very confident in this motor saying 9% over the 800HO, then...
