I'm not against" the shim " ,and I'm not against different pin heights.. what needs to be considered here is proper piston support in the cylinder, there are pistons out there that will do that. Also you can have the "proper pin height"as quoted by Brock and use a shim..hint ,hint..

He is doing this because he believes the rod ratio is to short, but if you do the math the Polaris is the longest out of all three..

What I'm saying is Cat pistons don't work well in Poo cylinder due to the design and port location, nothing about pin height. Cats intake and exhaust are on the same side of the cylinder, the one side of a cat piston (ring pin side) is strait ,this is all for surport in a cat cylinder, not Poo..

The best way to understand squish is it has a direct relation to timing..think of less timing, is like having thicker squish and vise versa. So tighter squish has better throttle response as does more timing..the biggest issue with less squish is being able to resist det with pump fuel. There...

    0.250" compression height w/shim

The thrust side is the intake side on any 2 stroke, the lip or edge you describe is a result of the piston trying to throw itself out the exhaust port, that's pretty common for that edge to form there.

cat pistons don't belong in the Polaris cylinder, wont last..i concur..

    Summer build BMP big bore

Tom don't you think its wise to have the crank rebuilt? that's a lot of miles for more stress from the big bore. You have the rest of the summer, pull the motor split the cases and have it redone..and while your at it have the upper case have relieved at the same time. Its going to hit, then bye...

This is a stock 800 with turbo, however no mapping changes in this area, note coolant temp is 55deg. And note the AFR reading, this is in non eth fuel mode, most of the timd my gauge is stuck at 16 sled hasent been running long. If you stay next to it and start to hear it lean out you can burp...

17s and any 16 that had the reflash done are all way to lean at cold start up, start sled at 30 degrees, shortly after it will stall from being to lean, restart and will be fine threw warm up.

Keeping the clutching balanced, is that a better word..you would benefit from that gear change with that track. If you gear down as you speak you will need to add load to the clutches.the problem with conventional weights is not being able to load the clutch where you want it. If your not a...
