gas tank

Hi, I recently bought a 2001 Polaris XC SP 500, it isn’t an edge. I’ve read online and found that it should be around a 10 gallon gas tank but I can only fill it to be a 5 gallon tank. Is the gauge really wrong or does it have a 5 gallon tank? I just can’t seem to find any information on the...
