2003 Escape Temp Issues

Looking for some advise. I have a 2003 Vertical Escape, when I start it cold the temp light starts to flicker and then starts to flash like it's sensing detonation. As it warms up at idle it goes away. As I throttle up it comes back. But will be intermittent as I ride.

trace the wire from the temp sensor , sounds like its chaffed somewhere and grounding out, or a corroded connector
