Rush 800 exhaust blowout

Let my son use my 2012 rush 800 pro r and it came back with part of the hood panel melted and a big chunk of the pipe blown out. Any ideas what would cause that? There’s no signs of it being cracked prior

weak from rust. We had a 2010 600 do the same thing under the heat shield.
