So, most of us are out of snow. Another Short Winter.
So quick , simple (ya,right) question:
What has been your go to primary weight for the 800 Axys? Why?
Catagories, 1)stock engine, 2) piped and tune engine,
3) modded engine.

Daltons for ease of change for stock engines with a pipe or a pcv. Great for a non experienced tuner as the profile isn't to agressive and won't lug motor down in elevation changes , warmer weather and heavier snow .

Super tips or turbo mags for an experienced tuner that likes an agressive profile weight to race stock or modded motors

Anyone develope tungsten inserts for Daltons or Cutlers? If so, who and do they work better?
I'm pretty sure that Dale at Dalton has tungsten inserts for his adjustable weights. I seem to remember seeing them on his site. As for Cutlers I'm not sure but maybe check out their site or send an email to them.

The problem with them is they are too long. They cover the mid and either end depending on where you put them

Forgot about that. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

I bought the Dalton QA3's for this past season but never got to try them. Also found some set screws with a extended tip that allowed some weight all the way to the end. Wait till next year.

Do you have a link for those set screws with the extended tip - I'm guessing you tried and confirmed they do hang out the tip a bit further? And, if a person is running a pipe, is the tip weight beneficial - or is weight at the heal better?

Tip and heel weight are important. I don't do much with mid weight . This is a more aggressive set up and is faster . You can add heel , mid and no tip for example and rev were it's supposed too, but it doesn't go fast . Seen this lots . Doc will back me up on this too in his findings .

I welded a little extra on the tip worked good for me on my daltons welded 0.4 and put 0.7 slug in and loaded the heel as much as it would take depending on conditions

Anybody with any info on the new slp magnum force? They sound good, supposedly their most agressive heel area and the wt slugs start off with being added in the tip. Plus easy to adjust.

Dr. Notadoo,
You modified some stock Polaris 10 series weights, welding on underside of tip. What's the pros and cons of that ?

The profile is to flat. It's not agressive enough to work very good on flat land fast trail and racing 0-2500' above sea level in my opinion. It's made for mountain sleds to keep rev's up (flat profile).

You can use it, but it will rev your proper rpm and go no where . Put it on a timing system and you'll see what I'm talking about vs a super tip or turbo mag

Tredehmer, I bought them from MacMaster Carr. The tip is 1/8+inch long. It will go to the very end of my Daltons, which none of the supplied by Dalton set screws will do. They are 2/10's of a gram lighter than the same length setscrews Dalton provides, but again those don't go to the end. Maybe a trade off, maybe a plus? They will be 1/8 further away from the middle of the weigh which I say is a plus.

Like the in clutch type of adjustability, makes it a more usable/easy system for changing conditions. So that leaves dalton qap3, cutler it 65-75, or cutler turbo mags 60-70 with the last probably not the best for everyday trail use.

RD, I think you made the right choice with the weight that goes further in the tip in my opinion?

Just pinch it . You can use the turbo mags to trail ride , just use a shallower helix like a 48/42 or a 46/42 fp with your race helix the other angle and least a 140 lb spring start .
It will lug rpm down more then the others in heavy wet snow, warmer conditions or higher elevation like I said . But it's easy to change tip and heel weight on trail . Usually when my buddies are having a smoke I do it and I'm done before their smoke Div20

I saw the same thing on my Rmk, it revs but dont get the trackspeed.
