Jaws pipe. ?

From what I was told (but not confirmed) is below:

Team Tip S-16-02-03 was issued by Polaris February 25, 2016. This tip helps with troubleshooting Low Engine Idle and Inconsistent starting/restarting problems on MY16 800HO snowmobiles. Technicians are encouraged to install MY16 reflash calibration 4016413.

yeah I know about the reflash. Just wondering why Greg said not to get it done?? He thinking it won't perform as good?

If I recall correctly, yes. The new flash may corrupt the mapping that he designed his pipe around and then where does that leave you? I think the point he was trying to get across was, if it isn't broke, don't fix it.....so if you're not experiencing a high frequency of RPM issues or hard starting, it's not necessary to get the reflash.

Doubt the mapping was changed other than the programming for the idle voltage. Problem is they used the same ECU program on the 16 as the 15 had but they changed the TPS in some way. The 15 had idle voltage spec of 0.913 +- 0.01 Volts DC. And 16s have 0.940 +- 0.01 Volts DC. So on 16s the TPS sees .94 volts, it thinks need to give more than idle fuel, but your not touching gas/throttle bodies is closed, you get hard starting, rough idling sled, disco headlights, and so on. I had to hold throttle wide open often which shuts fuel off to clear it out to get mine to start. At least how I am understanding this. Not sure why anyone would no want to get the remap?

Greg did mention that something is in the works to cover the hi temp black painted pipe that anyone can add at any time. I'm sure it'll be available soon. [/QUOTE

What is the cover? Greg mention anything more?

Price is spot on. Have one under my bench waiting for installation.

My guess would be some sort of heat shield? He didn't elaborate on the details other than it would be something someone could add after-the-fact if they wanted to.

Are you running a stock machine in terms of gearing/clutching when you install the pipe? Hopefully, Brock, Doc or Mr. Indy can chime in on what they'd recommend on set-ups. Like I said previously, I'm running 10-70 Poo weights. I'm thinking this will be OK if I throw on the Jaws pipe, but??

For reference, I see the SLP set-up recommends running their weights @ 71g.

Looks like the proposed cover would be awfully close to the bumper.

I am regearing and throwing new clutching. 10-70 is a good choice.

Just been so busy with work lately.

As for the washer Greg recommends with gold spring is a 0.040" thick washer which will make the spring about 10 lbs higher on engagement and on top. There called glide washers .

As for weights I like the 10 series but it doesn't have enough tip weight in my opinion. Slp weights are similar profile and have more tip weight.

Or you could get the 11 series and match heel to 10 series and have a heavy heel and tip. Best of both. You need the weight Jig though.

I'll reply to more when I get more free time.
Good to see you guys Div20

Jaws pipe cover/shield or what ever it my be. I'm going to guess it's a blanket for the pipe kind of like a turbo blanket.

Quite possibly could be a blanket style cover. Cat uses them on their exhaust cans on the ProCross sleds.

@ Brock, Greg told me his pipe was engineered and designed around a stock AXYS 800 HO's ECU programming and clutching. That's why indeed he includes the glide washer in with the pipe to make the stock primary spring have a higher rate. The 10 series Polaris weights will work just fine according to Greg. But like you said, maybe some fine tuning using 11 series or Dalton's?
