Sold my Viper last week, will spring check a new 850 XC or XCR if available. Looking forward to something new for me. My time will be spend on this site mostly now so lets get it going strong...
Don’t these engines drop into limp mod to prevent damage if overheating, and at some point just turn off? I’m not sure you will have any issues but I’d educate her on how to keep it cool in icy conditions. Gotta watch the temp gauge. Or add some scratchers
Does this sled come stock with tunnel protection for studs? Under the tunnel I see two bars that I think is tunnel protection. I assume if you bottom out the track rubs on those bars preventing the studs from catching. Am I correct?
I have 1.25 lugs on a cobra track. I too used Woody's to run some estimates. They suggest 1325 series Gold Diggers. I think that give me 3/8 stud depth above the lug. On a 120 track 2 per row = 84. I think I will start with 84 and if I need more they suggest to add 2 more on every other bar on...
Looking to add studs to my Rush 600 short track (120). Wondering about how many and how long? I do 100 % trail riding and I’m looking for a nice performance level of studs. Was thinking 2 per row or 84. Don’t want to over stud and have steering issues, just want traction. Also was leaning toward...
Me either until I noticed my wife's Rush show small signs of oil getting past the cap. As I thread it on it feels kinda funny like it's not threading good. I think a new cap or aluminum insert will solve it.
Great discussion. Is OEM VES good? I know lots of people debate oil and it seems if the oil meets specs you should be fine. Why do so many seek to leave OEM behind and run klotz or AMSOIL etc... I have never been able to notice any difference and never had a failure on my engine due to oil if...
Good to know. I will pay attention at the pump. I thought 91 had ethanol still so I'm glad to hear it doesn't. Some places sell recreation fuel only and that good. I was more concerned about the franchise gas station with 91.
Thanks for the info!
I think most stations carry 91 octane but it has some ethanol. Some places sell recreation gas which has zero ethanol. So if I encounter just 91 octane that has some ethanol should I run the sled in ethanol mode, or will 91 with ethanol cause an issue if my sled is set up with non-ethanol.
I recall reading about cleaning the exhaust valve on my Rush. I have not done that but wondering if you should check that. I think it called this out in the owners manual, give it a check. I’m sure there is a simple fuel filter but not sure where it’s located.
I'm curious too on this one. I will be ordering a Indy XC 850 137 this spring and will be studding it too. I'd like to see what issue you think you are having with the tunnel protectors.
Depending on your weight you can often get stiffer preload springs. I assume you have adjusted the preload already? This will make steering softer or harder depending on what you do. Owners manual should give you guidance on this change.
