2008 Polaris Edge 550 LX
Hello, did some searching online and it looks like in one persons opinion the overheating/oil pump cavitation had been fixed in the '08 models. IDK if this is true? I tried searching in these forums and didn't see anything. I just traded for a super clean one with 2000 miles on it and I'll do whatever, oil pump kits fuel pump relocation, cold air intake kit, I'm just curious if anyone knows. Pictures of under the hood if that helps at all. I couldn't find under hood examples of '07 model Edges.

Couldn't find any answers so pieced together some old info on the touring model of this sled. Got the part # for the Polaris fleet retrofit kit Part#2203829, and lo and behold Partzilla had it. I see on this '08 the fuel pump has already been moved etc. by the factory but cooling still looked inadequate. Added (4) addition vents, and an intake that bolts to the side of the recoil housing and now the engine pulls cool air in directly from above the hood, works amazing.. looks terrible, Lol. Couple drill holes needed to be moved but other than that it fit this sled perfect.

I have the identical machine, '08 Trail Touring 550 fan, bought used about 4 years ago.
It came with all of the cooling additions you've described already installed. I don't know if that was done by the first owner or factory.
Despite all of the warnings herein about 550 fans that overheat, I have never had a problem and we pretty much limit our use to our own property - no high speeds runs on wide open trails. In fact, a lot of the time we are moseying along at just above idle!
I did raise the spark plugs 1 heat range to stop fouling. I use High Test gas only & Polaris oil.
Fingers crossed that the smooth, trouble-free running continues but, so far we're quite happy.
You mentioned re-positioning the fuel pump. Can you send a picture of the new placement please.
