I have read a lot of post on hear about gearing on Pro S model sleds. I was under the impression that the Pro S model switchback 800 had 23/37 (1.61 ratio). So I wanted to gear the sled down for better performance. After a few hours of tearing the sled apart I was surprised to find the sled had 22/37 (1.68 ratio). I wanted to go to the 22/38 (1.73 ratio), but I would have probably not went through the hassle if I would have known the 2016 Pro S came stock with 1.68 ratio. I am still going to switch them out to the 1.73 ratio.

Wait.....I'm confused here.....I thought the only AXYS model that came standard with the 1.68 ratio (22/37) was the '16 AXYS Rush LE? All other flatland AXYS 800 models (RipSaw II/Cobra tracks) came standard with the 23/37, 1.61 ratio gearing.

OP....you sure it's a 22T top gear?

ripsaw is 23/37, cobra 22/37, backcountry 22/41

The sled was a spring order Pro S switchback with a Cobra track. Yes is definitely a 22 top gear which means I only need to buy a 38T bottom gear and will be set with 1.73 ratio.

Correct, all you need is the 38T bottom. The 68P chain will work.

Are all Cobra equipped sleds geared 22/37, including the Pro X then? I may have overlooked this assuming the top gear was a 23T when I changed to a 40T bottom and 70P chain. Instead of a 1.74, I think I've got a 1.81 if that's the case.
