Clutch Help

I had a chance to change the 37 gear to a 38 over the weekend. First of all, what a pain in the ass! No Fu***ng drain plug and a Bit*h to remove the cover. But I did get the gear swapped. I noticed the chain was extremely loose! What problems can a loose chain cause? I tightened it to spec but just curious. Anyhow, after it was all buttoned up I took it for a ride. What a difference the 1.74 ratio made. I was hitting 8250 rpm and the sled was running awesome! Before the change I would run even with my buddy's Yamaha. After, I could easily pull a good 4-5 lengths on him off the line as well as from a 50mph roll. I still have the mystery helix in but it still runs really well up to 95mph. After 95 the sled seems to hit a wall and slowly climbs to 103. The snow was not perfect but pretty damn good. The power is exactly where I want it so i can care less about top speed but curious as to why it dropped on the top end. Stock the sled would run up to 108.
 
I have a few of those white Delrin washers but did not know where they went. Where are those supposed to be installed and what is the purpose of them? Also, what problems can a used older belt cause. The belt I have in the sled looks to be in good condition but the sides seems to be pretty glossy looking and smooth.
 
The delrin washers go in the spring pockets on primary and secondary clutches.
The help reduce spring catching on the aluminum and let it rotate freely.
Less friction, smoother operation.

Lower gear ratio will produce lower top speed at a 1:1 ratio.
But, I don't think it should have dropped that much.
 
An old belt isn't as grippy and will slip. I just washed mine in hot soapy water and scrubbed it a bit with a scrotc brite pad. Rinse and air dry before reinstalling. It regained a noticeable amount of grip
 
Changed to 1.81 gearing and couldn't be happier with it! I definitely lost some speed on the top end but for trail riding it is the best ratio in my opinion.
