Being a dealer we get to repair a lot of snowmobiles throughout the winter. Sometimes we'll notice a trend, and sometimes just one time weird issues. Either way I figured I would share some of these issues with you guys. Might possibly help you to diagnose an issue you are having with your snowmobile. Not all of these are only on the MY 17's, I'll mention on what MY sleds. I'll add to this list if I can think of anything else and maybe update it throughout next season. Please comment with other engine issues you guys may have had. We've had some engine failures but no two sleds failed for the same reason so I don't feel it's worth mentioning.
1. Thermostat- yes it's a weird issue to have, but we've replaced a few of them this year. One of them had even caused some damage to the head. We've only seen this on MY 17's so far.
2. Intake reeds- 2015 the new V-force reeds were bullet proof, 0 issues. 2016 same results. 2017 we had one customer lose a complete petal. I mentioned this to engineers at the dealer show and they are aware of it. Apparently the mold for the cage was getting worn and caused some issues to show up on MY 17 sleds. They are aware of the issue and have taken corrective measures.
3. E-VES guillotine. We've had several of them break. Some of them just lost the sections in the transfer ports, some the center guillotine broke. One of them took out the engine, other's didn't. We saw this on MY 16 and 17 sleds.
4. E-VES cable. We had a MY 17 have the cable actually break. We only saw this once since Polaris has been running the E-VES system.
