New Member Looking For Help

Well just like anything else the more I read the more Im not sure. I thought I was sure I was going to do a northstar stage 2 kit, SSI SS pipe, SSI SS muffler, and a power commander with a new map. The stage 2 kit is clutch weights, helix, and gears to 1.74. Now Im second guesing myself because you guys are getting codes with the SSI pipes. Im not sold on the Bikeman pipes though Ive heard the video clips online and not sure I like them. What units are you guys using for dtr maps? Ive heard that bullydog is trying to get out of sleds but not sure if thats true. I like the Dyno jet Power Command unit and that it doesnt wipe the stock map and that you can get a switch for it. Whats the best resource for reliable tested maps?

Bullydog is out of sleds no support from them but still selling them to some performance shops. Dtr or whoever you get your pipe from should have a map for you

doc is right about ssi pipe mod.
the best thing you can do is run the fuel only map from dtr if your using a ssi pipe mod. take the timing out of it. i ran the ssi pipe mod and kept throwing codes after i readjusted the pcv 4 times. finally, i toke the timing right out of it and just used the fuel. it doesn't throw a det code anymore.

Brock by taking timing out how much hp and or torque is lost

about 3 hp and a couple lbs of torque dave

i was going to take timing out of the 80% column all together and change everything from the 100% column to 2 degrees but i ran out of time. it worked of the dyno with 2 degrees timing and didn't throw any codes

my 16 gets codes with 2 deg of timing. SSI sent me a new map with +2 fuel added all over and more in 100% areas but still 4 deg of timing added wonder if it will work. It runs too awesome (when no DET) with timing don't want to take out all the timing that would be a bummer! Hope someone can make a map that has the magic combination of fuel and power that gets power with no DET

I don't know what else you were using with the 2 degree timing??? fuel??? timing??? in what areas??? just because you had 2 degrees timing doesn't mean that was at fault cory, way to many things going on.

And that fuel map that you pictured is way to much fuel in some spots and would kill the hp and torque. If i put that fuel map on the dyno, i gaurantee it woud be down on hp and torque a lot. You mine as well not have a pcv and just run the pipe????

That's the map Eric from ssi sent me last week he is sending to guys that are having det problems. Yea it's rich. And yes stock might run better then this maybe not with the timing and you have told me yourself these things love fuel

The one I'm running 2 deg timing on is the heath map modded with fuel how you told me to do it with 2s added in the mod range of fuel map. 60-80% throttle. Taking off the pcv completely and leaving pipe makes it det worst than the original map on my sled anyway.

At this point what choice do I have, put it to stock or keep pipe and remove timing and rich so it doesn't have any more power than stock?

I'm more than frustrated to tell you the truth. Don't mean to be an ass. Thanks for the help Brock I will try taking the timing off dtr map still should run better than stock

CORY, THAT TIMING MAP IS THE ONE WE BUILT AT DTR. CHANGE ALL THE 4 TO 2 AND 3 A 1.AND THE TIMING IS NOT MAKING IT DET UNLESS YOU ARE IN THOSE COLUMNS.WHAT FUEL MODE DID HE SAY TO RUN IT IN I DIDENT NOTICE?

He said for non ethanol mode. I already turned down the timing still det sometimes. I have tried no added timing and no fuel and dets bad

So this is not a timing issue, this is lean part throttle problem. Just for shits and giggles and 1 or 2 % more in the 40-60% area between 6000 to 7500.

Cory, try this fuel and timing out. I had it just about right and no det with less fuel. I added more fuel and ran outta time to try this. I think it may work??.
I see det all over the place, 5000, 6500, and 8000+. This tells me it's the choked down pipe.

Is engine coolant temp playing into these det's?

No , we ran 160 degree temps on dyno and was just a loss of hp and torque. I bet no one see's 140 degrees in the field??

It's the inner stinger doing the det.

What about drilling a few holes in the stinger from the outlet end?

the ssi stinger is more like 10" if measured through the center line
