Studding a SB 800

Just seeing how many studs you guys put in your SB's last year.

At first I was thinking 2 studs per row (2 singles or 1 double) but now I am thinking 3 studs per row (1 single w/ 1 double).

-I will be getting the ripsaw 2

Also, if you ran 3 studs per row what carbides did you have under the skis?

I ran 144 Woody's gold diggers. 424242 pattern. 7.5 Shaper bars

Do you have the 600 or 800?

I have the 800 Switchback and ran 96 (2 per panel) and had problems breaking them. Used Woody's Gold Diggers.
I'm adding 48 to make a toyal of 144 with the 4-2-4-2 pattern.

When you go to stud it It's pretty easy if you remove the 4 bumper bolts and tip it up. Hold it with a strap. Just make sure sure you get the plastic panels back correctly or the studs with catch it and make a hell of a noise!

Did the bumper trick with my 800 Anniversary. I did 3 per row 1.375 and Bergstrom triple points for carbides. My wife snowchecked a '16 and that will begin life the same.

I like traction , and I don't ride like a jerk , 2 per bar all up the middle. 1640 hornets with protectors, 2300 miles on a cobra track no issues. On the lake 76 hornets and 48 1.87 snow stuff terminators. Hooks up nicely . Only doubles in center away from drivers that way it's smooth.

I agree.... 1.62 power points for me on my cobra. 1.325" studs are useless on the 1.325" or 1.250" rip 2. IMPO

how do you find the cobra for top speed? Think it gives up any to the rip II?

All around great track if ur looking for speed on top I think a hacksaw (1 in ) would be better and narrowing it would make it better yet

for sure...a 14" wide hacksaw would be ideal for top speed. I have the choice between the rip2 and the cobra....just curious on difference. My XF 8000 with the rip2 would on a normal day on the lake hit about 107-109 GPS.....just curious how close to that my axys will be.

I like the cobra better I think it hooks better in loose snow

I feel the cobra hooks better then the Rip2 on loose snow and the same as the Rip2 on hardpack.... cannot speak to top end tho.

I run 3 per belt on my 800 switchback. 1.32's, I think, or maybe I have 1.52's --can't remember.

In my opinion, a 121" should have no less then 120-130 studs and the 137" no less then 144. Penetration .350"+

To less of studs pulls and tears at the track. Don't be afraid to stud.
