    Assault won't start

Try holding it wide open while starting. Funny, I had the same issue with mine today. Held it wide open and it started right up.

Yeah. I'm just comparing to 120"

    Powder Riding.

Another thing the Axys does well. We got 30" of snow. I went out to break trail. I'm impressed with how well this sled does in powder. Being only 120" I didn't expect much. But it's the best 120" sled I have ever driven in deepish snow. The sleds balance and the way the engine responds is...

Reliability Kit wich one to use

The politics surrounding this are such that you can only read tea leaves. No one seems to be able to come out and say what they think. Here is me reading the tea leaves: #1 The stock Polaris piston in the 2015 and up 800s is good. Maybe 10000 mile good. At least 5000 mile good. It's a good...

Thoughts on the 2018 Polaris Lineup?

Seems reasonable considering we are only 3 years into a new platform and sales are flat. Plus, Polaris took a finacial hit because of SXS recalls, didn't they?

    Aftermarket Shocks

I broke my cross shaft bolt and messed up my center shock. I made a fox zero pro with a 5/8" shaft and dual speed adjuster for my Axys. As a temp measure, I put together a setup like ski doo uses for the mounting. Instead of two bolts on either end of the shaft, ski doo has the bolt go all the...

    Aftermarket Shocks

Some evidence for my thoughts comes from Polaris Race Tips, XCR design, and observing what the aftermarket does. First, Polaris Tips. Look at the valving they recommend for cross country terrain racing! The stack starts off with 3 .015 thick base shims. That's historically pretty darn stiff...

But, for some the center shock and Its mounting can be a a weak link in the setup.

    Aftermarket Shocks

The center shock is a vital component in this setup as always. But more so in this case. And the Axys center takes some abuse due to: - a bit higher leverage ratio compared to other designs -uncoupled -weight distribution of sled, rider etc. None of these things are bad. They are part of the...

    91 Octane, No Ethanol?

PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK. But word on the street is that you can run 93octane 10% ethanol in non ethanol mode and maybe even see a little performance bump. Ethanol is bad for storage and fuel systems that arn't built for it. It also has about 30% less energy per volume than regular petrol...

2018 Polaris, any guess on what is coming on March 6th ???

I think the mountain people had a perfect year too. So it would be wise business to spend the resources on them. Also, the Axys is only 3 years into its platform.

Reliability Kit wich one to use

Lots of wisdom in this. One example...You think about the value of squish band clearance and compression ratio, the interplay between the two and how .002 makes the difference. How can you blindly assemble non oem parts and a spacer without measuring and re giggering the clearance of required?

2018 Polaris, any guess on what is coming on March 6th ???

Speaking of triples. I worked on a friend's yamaha 600 triple last week. It needed a new oil pump. When I was done and started it up, I got goose bumps! No joke. All my memories of 2 stroke triples came flodding back. I forgot how amazing they sound. Especially the last Yamaha triples. They...

2018 Polaris, any guess on what is coming on March 6th ???

With 2 low snow winters in a row and low sales, ill be happy if all they do is announce that they will still be making snowmobiles!

I'll check those things and just get used to it. I've had it worse on other sleds.

My Gearing and Clutch Setup So Far

For the record and anyone who cares. Thanks to everyone who contributed past advice on here and Hard Core Sledder. Time and money were more limited than normal this year. I did a budget temporary setup. Budget as in I found used components where possible and went with the minimum number of...
