That’s perfect. Can’t ask for the clutches to perform better then that.
Other then getting it to full shift out which may require you to gear down a bit.
I have run 11 series for Drag racing in the past. I am running QAP5s in my 850 loaded to 76g with a 310 finish on the Primary spring. I have some Cutler Turbo Mags for my 800 and a set for my 850 that I will test for 500 and 660 snow drags. The TMs are pretty much an 11 series profile and have...
If you’re towing a sled on a slushy lake often I’d recommend going with a lower gear ratio.
23/43 with a 72 pitch chin is a 1:91 ratio. That will still be trail friendly but give you the low end grunt you’ll need.
You’re on the right track for a decent trail setup.
You could order from Dalton as they are in NS. They don’t sell the secondary spring you’re looking for. You can get that from the dealer.
You can get the QAP3S and grab a 120/300 or a 135/310 primary spring.
It’s in regards the the fuel line rubbing. Have to take the secondary clutch off and get clutch cover/oil tank outta the way to get a good look for any wear on the fuel supply line.
The 800s are reliable, last models had some excessive piston movement but last number of years have been good.
The 850 beats the 800s in a drag race. As far as the DOO 850, they are freaking Turtles against the Polaris 850s
It’s actually quite embarrassing for them.
From 15 year of owning Polaris sleds. Try it if you want but it’s not worth the risk of fouling plugs and causing possible engine damage.
I moved my 850 at 82 deg F last month and foiled a plug. I wait until 90 and no issues.
The 2018s has a better head design which allowed the engine to run cooler and results in a little better performance.
I have a 2017 SBA 800 and it’s a weapon, cant go wrong with either one so all depends on pricing I would say.
After a great weekend of racing with m Buddy where we took all 1st and 2nd place trophies in 900 and 1000 stock classes, as well as 900 Trail Improved class, we got together for some more runs and made a few minor changes. Both sleds still setup for 500' Drag racing. INDY is geared a tad lower...
If it wasn’t done already then it’s going to need a complete overhaul. Check idler wheel bearings, ski runners, may need Clutches rebuilt. Have the shocks been serviced? Torsion springs may be getting weak.
Tracks USA. I am Putting that sled back to a 136 and will be selling the rail and Tunnell extension if you’re interested. But installing a 2-up seat has no bearing on what length the skid is.
