Changing my studs and pattern. What do you think?

Anyone ever try Bigstudz? I know there was some articles in the trade rags at one point, and he has been at some shows in the area. I am touching base with him on he FB page to see how they have been used and work.

For extended trail riding I would be concerned with the angled stud heads and their going over wheels and or drivers.
 
Dave - the center stud is the only one that penetrates the track. The outside two only screw to the backer at that angle. The plate is slightly curved, and has some spikes that dig into the track when tight. Interesting idea. He has had them one some procross and drag applications for several years apparently. Didn't know that chief. Thanks. are you at all concerned with all the pressure put on that one stud head, when the 3 points bite into solid ice?
 
That is one of the questions I need to ask him. We ride lots of ice around here (rivers). Certainly straight line bite must be pretty good.

I get some bent ones early season riding. Rocks are a b**ch in low snow.
 
Chief, I would be concerned as Dave said about all that pressure on one stud that's mixed into 3. Doesn't seem right to me but who knows.


Also Dave , I have gold diggers and got 6000+ miles and haulin has triggers and 6000+ miles , I've had to replace way more bent studs and broken carbide tips then haulin has with his triggers and we ride together . Surprisingly the triggers hold up very nice. There durable, sharp point for digs and last. But man are they expensive
 
I agree with Dave Gold Diggers are as far as you can get away from
a drag racing stud they are built for longevity . If you want to drag your buddies on the lake then go to town with 1/2- 5/8" over the lug with triggers and chisels and pin it! You will be hookin and bookin!
That being said , I have 3 sleds here in the shop all studded a bit different . Sled# 1 , 144 gold diggers 10000 km 1/4" over lug works good on trails studs are blunt and probably will look the same after next season. sled # 2 , 96 gold diggers with pre studded track , the gold diggers have same blunt point as sled # 1 but carbide tips on pre studded track are still sharp after 6000 km , the support from the diggers supports the Pre stud carbide tip. This set up works just as good as sled #1 but Imo will last longer than sled # 1 with less track weight. Sled # 3 144 woody's triggers 3/8 over lug , after 5600 km they have a sharper point than the gold diggers above , this combo hooks twice as hard as the other 2 sleds above and corners awesome in the trails. I am sure after another season of riding sled # 3 studs will be in better Condition than gold diggers above and less rotating mass. Sleds 1 , 2 and 3 all work great for fast trail no push in the corners.
But no match for drag race conditions.

Triggers all the way you get what you pay for !
