Polaris RMK 800 Electrical Problem

Hello everyone. I’ve got a 2003 Polaris RMK 800 that is not getting spark to either plug. New plugs, disconnected the black and white wire to isolate the ignition/kill switches, checked for bad wiring as well as I could. What’s next? New coil? Then stator? What am I missing. Thanks in advance

You should always test instead of throwing parts at it. Unplug the stator wires and test the following with an OHM meter.

White to White with Red tracer = trigger coil. 185 Ohms
Green to Black with Red tracer = ignition charge coil. 15 Ohms
Green to Ground should be open.
Green to to Red = ignition charge coil. 15 Ohms
Yellow wires are for lighting, don't worry about those right now.

External coil;
Black to White = .3 Ohms
Lead to Lead = 5,000 Ohms

The external coil numbers are for the coil directly connected to the plug wires? If not do you have those numbers too?

So pictures above of readings. If I’m doing it right...they seem way off from your values

The plug end caps should be removed from the plug wires when testing. They have resistance also. The plug caps will unscrew from the plug wire and screw back on when your done. You can also test the plug caps individually when removed from the wire, they will have 5,000 OHMS.

All of the OHM readings are +/- 20% based on room temp. If you are within as much as +/- 40% (based on temp at time of testing) the coil is good.

Hard to tell from the pictures what wires you are testing. If any of the readings show completely open that component is faulty.

The zero reading on the 20k setting is of the black and white wires leading into the coil. The 1.2 reading is of the same wires at the 200 setting. Thinking that’s pretty close to open. You mentioned it should be around .3 ohms?

I’ll check the plug wires alone again.
