Hey guys, new here and fairly new to the sport. I am trying to get my machine ready for the upcoming season and have a few questions.

The sled I acquired is a 2000 RMK 700. Was originally a Xtra-Lite 136. The PO swapped in a Xtra-10 and a 144" track. my concerns are with what was done with the mounting of the skid. It appears that the rear mounts were relocated to the front, about 4.5" to the rear (which relocates the mount to approx 4" back and 3" down), and new brackets installed at the rear about the same difference as the fronts. From what I understand, this should give a better attack angle as well as some lift. What I am looking to do with the sled is mostly trail riding, but want something that can get into some powder occasionally. Are these mods good for performance all around, or will they hinder handling on the trails?

Can you post some pics for us?

Lots of knowledgeable guys on here that can help

How about a few pics of the sled and skid/track from the side

So I thought I was making progress until I hit a wall tonight. I discovered that the track was a 151 and not a 144 like I was told. Not a big deal as I found a good deal on a 144 that was way better shape. I removed everything and relocated the rear brackets from the front back to where they belong. Got the new track in. Reinstalled the skid, and I'm max'd out on my adjustment, with tons of slack. The only thing I don't know at this point is whether all of the parts are correct within the skid itself.

You could try a big wheel kit for the rear axle. It may take up some slack for you.

This could work for you. Or if you're back in the original mounting holes, maybe you want to find a 136" track for it?

Have you contacted JB Shocks yet? They seem to have a bunch of info on skid swaps...

I have contacted JB Shocks. He couldn't help me.

On another site, I found someone who apparently ran into the exact same problem I have. he moved the skid slightly to the rear and it all worked out. not sure if there are some slight variations with these skids. anyhow, I have relocated the front mounting hole 1.5" rearward and made new rear brackets with the proper distance for the rear mount. we should be good now.
