Adjustable weights who's using them and what brand

Guys feel free to jump in here I’m just going to ramble about what I’m coming up with. I think for me I simply cannot achieve what I want in clutching running a sticky belt (gboost or ultimax) without tuning the helix. The stock belt until 1k ish miles was working great too. I was pretty happy overall.

Anyways if this sounds like you then I won’t stop until I have it. I want bam instant rpm at most 100 rpm +\- of 8150 every time I hit it anywhere. Snow or trail, and I’ll figure it out. The key though is it also has to be faster than stock with aftermarket belt.

Anyways I’m getting close, custom cut helix ordered based on my own helix mapping. I’ll have it for next weekend and will get to play with another element.

If the gboost is more consistant id stick with it ? I run a 58-48-42.40 with good results some guys like a 44/40 FP as well

I plan to use the Gboost and have a helix coming to test with it. Unfortunately the Gboost and Ultimax are too grippy for me and the stock helix. With the 58/44 the Assault comes with even with significantly stiffer springs I cannot make it rev quick enough. So I have a custom cut helix coming today from Dalton to test. My goal is to run the Gboost / Ultimax belts for the next couple thousand miles and dial my clutching in around those belts. I am positive once I swap the helix and get it tuned the sled is going to be even faster.

Did you check the durometer of all the belts? Also look at the 650 belt. It maybe softer than the stock 850. As long as you look an eye on the belt you can run a softer belt without fear of it blowing. I run the stock belt and scuff up the sides of the belt everytime I clean my clutches which is between 800 and 1000 miles. Also look at the 650 belt. It won't last as long but may not glaze over as fast.
When we ran 800 triple triples we were 180 + HP and ran the stock 3211075 belt. That belt was a lot softer than the belts we have today.

I have not measured the durometer of the belts but they are surely softer you can tell just with your hands. I have my two belts now I plan to test around for the time being. I am hopeful to have the softer belt dialed in over the weekend. Off to Qc for three days.

Finally getting some riding in 307 miles on Saturday 1300 miles on the sled so far. Was able to line up on a lake with 3 850 Ski-Doo's and an 800 Polaris. We would all come out of the hole about the same 2 Ski-Doo's would pull about a sled lenght ahead in midrange and mine would pass them on top. Raced 3 times same results. The slowest Ski-Doo had a jaws pipe and clutch kit and traded places with the 800 Polaris. The other 2 stock exhaust with clutching. Mine is running 8150 see 8200 pop up on long pulls.

Jamie how many miles do you have on your g-boost belt? You say your stock belt performed well for first 1000 miles just wondering how long the g-boost will perform.

I did a little research and see that g boost is owned by Glen Earlandson, I have purchased a lot of clutching components from him over the years and have spoke with him over the phone many times. IMO he is a great guy. But I can purchase OEM belts for a bit less from my dealer than what he charges.

Won't know until I have more miles on it. My preference is to run a stickier belt then stock it simply makes the sled ET faster.

what type of ballpark et's are you seeing on the snow? 660'?

1.65-1.70 on average 60’

9.8@97 mph 1000’

That’s with the TD GPS on groomed snow.

I got a quick test ride last night on my groomed strip. The custom helix feels great! I’m going to Quebec for 3 days today. This should be a great test!

We did roughly 230 miles today. I got to test my new custom cut helix. I’m extremely pleased with the feel of the sled. We’re hoping to lineup tomorrow for a couple runs. Just to see vs stock. But if it remains the way it is now I’ll be very happy!

In regards to the old triples running softer belts? Could the twins torgue and power pulses every 180 degrees vs 120 degrees of a triple, have a effect on belt life? The twins pound on the belt harder?

I’ve has the gboost belt on my sled now for 1300 miles with no signs of fade or wear. We just completed 3 days in Quebec with 4 matryx 850’s. My assault is king of them all. Start to finish mine wins every time we line up. The custom helix I had made to go with my belt and clutching is working flawlessly. Couldn’t be more satisfied with the results. Perfect rpm 8150-8250 every squeeze on the trail. Deep snow instantaneous lift, stand the thing on its bumper and perfect rpm hold. It revs near instant and charges hard!

What angles are the helix, if you don't mind sharing.

I’m going to keep them to myself for now as it’s a complete custom cut based on my tuning. My helix will NOT work with an Oem belt so everything is designed around the gboost / ultimax.

Ok. I also switched from the OEM belt but to a Gates which gave 15thou belt to sheave, softer compound.

I was sort of in the same boat until I got my setup right. Mine has been spot on since the helix swap. For example we ran 885 miles of gas and go. Last 3 days no lunch breaks. No time for the belt to heat cycle, always at a good pace. Some sections were 80 mph for 15-20 mins. Still anytime I push the throttle instant 8150-8250 every single time. Deep snow perfect rpm pull into huge wheelie no overshift just hangs on the bumper. I can flip my sled over in the snow now.

No fade no rpm change, hold it 3000’ WFO and holds 8150-8200 whole time. Back out but it again instant 8150-8250 again and holding.
