Black Scorpion Project

You have to remove all the front panels. Mark where the airbox sits on the crossbar. Remove airbox. have to unplug the ECU plugs. I used the top 3 bag mounts plus 1 felcro strap. The other felcro strap u can't use. I use the stronger cold rated tie strapes as usual. Hard to get at the back strap mount behind steering.

Have the felcro strap where you want it. I wraped the bar with Rubber tape just below the strap. So strap cant just slide down.

The kit comes with a fiberglass rod ( First pic ) to support the bag hanging out over the muffler. BUT its for pro ride install. rod is suppose to sit on both crossbars up high but the intake is in the way on the Axys. So i made a new longer rod out of 2 Stainless welding rods and wraped the rod with rubber tape. Now i can get it to the far cross bar.

If money was no object you could order a ridged tube clamp and have a rod come out of it for bag

The strap where the rod goes into bag. I was just going to cut it off but i ran it to bar and bag up. A little more support. thats it.

Started putting my tow straps in there, bungie extension strap, Emergency foil blanket. Half full so far..

In your opinion, would the bag have fit as well as your install did with the stock muffler?
A lot of us have been following your Black Scorpion project from day one. There is a lot of info here to be used. Thanks for the pics and description of each mod you made. Letitsnow

I dont see any issue with stock muffler. just might not be able to use that front strap. I was just going to cut that off anyways

Got a nice tool pouch for tools and emergency stuff. Has nice sized zippered section. Perfect

I made a list of all the parts i used and part #s or links on the very first post for easy access. Will update as needed

I didnt like the hard bottom in my storage bag. So i bought a gun case from walmart for $9 and took the foam out of it. Was perfect size. Spray glued them together. Spray glued the whole thing to the bottom. Was tricky getting it down there without touching anything and getting it in position the first try. Has a nice bottom now

Was worried about the cover fitting with the hand guards on. It was a close fit without.

Couldnt get the cover one over the hand guards.

I found the trick!

put the cover over the bars in place first. THEN pull the front cover over the front bumper. No problem

This would work easier without hand guards as well

I wont have to carry my shovel in my pack anymore. I dont mean if your mountain riding.

It should always be in your pack if theres a avalanche in mountains.

I like this because its off my back and easy access. I have the full kit with shovel. You can use your own shovel if you want.

Its powdercoated black. Its all quick release. Takes less then 8" on tunnel

Just bolted on using the T slot

Can get at catzass.net

Pictures dont lie.

This is what will happen to your clutch without the shim kit. Yikes

This my friends assault. Clutch is only 2 winters old.

Glad I put the shims in right away. Keep clutch like new for a long time.

Thanks to member on here. noticed it. So i fixed it today before i forget.

The saftey pins on the spring guide can fall out. Just has a push on clip.

could cause some major damage if the spring came off the guide.

Just remove it and install a stainless cotter pin. Wont have to worry about it again.

Decided to put grippers on. Here a lot of good things about them. Saw a bunch of assaults on the trail last weekend. they all had grippers on. Said they were really good.

You need different rubbers then the stock pro steers. Pretty cheap. At least you dont have to buy mounts like other ski brands.

As you can see in the pic the gripper sits better and up.

The stock pro steers bend forward and is part of the cause of wearing the front of ski out

I use molly paste on the bolts and bushings. Its the best for preventing wear on metal parts. This stuff is not cheap but will last you a long time and is the best you can get. Its good for using on splines as well.

the cheap grease you see at the parts store says molly grease but it barely has any molly in it. Has some molly in it so they call it molly grease.
