Where to start on MY clutching

I don't know what you are not understanding here. A better gear ratio will
Help the clutches operate more efficiently. And the sled will Pull much harder.'The stock Gearing of 1.61 on the AXYS SUCKS.
When you line up against someone who is geared and clutched properly and get whooped, don't call the sled a POS!
To each their own man. I dont want to regear, just looking for info on stock aet up. I trail ride. Im not worried about drag racing

...so a 2016 Switchback Pro-S with a Cobra track is a 1.68 ratio and it is to be more efficient on clutch than a Ripsaw II ...better corner to corner..and almost the same top speed ???

I dont have a 16, i dont have a switchback or a Cobra track.

Yes will be better then the 1.61 ratio, add some more weight to the front, get rid of the gold spring, and it will be even better.

....ok to add more weight to the front but for getting rid of the gold spring what is your suggestion Dr. Notadoo ???

For springs 120-140 for engagement what ever you like, a little lower at 120 or little higher at 140. On the big end 290-310. I like the 120/310 team white. For weight you want to be around 70 grms.

Thanks ! this winter i will be running with a friend who bought my 2015 Switchback Pro-S with a Rip II track (1.61) ....and I'm gonna have a little plus on my side ...just for fun !!!

There is a lot of performance to be had in the secondary too, just give a yell if you want to go faster..

Dr. N: My set up/sled this year is my 2015 AXYS SW with Indy Dan balanced clutches. He is sending out recalled weights (the magnetic type) that he loaded in going off of conversation but wondering if Daltons would be the ticket to dial in RPMs trailside--since I will have to remove and replace the current set anyways. I'll be having a Terra Alps Durability/Head/PC V--on order now; I'm now geared to 1.74 with a new ripsaw 2 1.5". Will initially run my SLP pipe/can until/if I see better from the Dynotech session. I weigh like 170 pounds and trail ride--with more off-trail in the plans. But corner to corner trail is the ticket.

I will run the whatever primary weight brand you spec at 70 grams. Then use the Team 120/310 primary spring. What do do with the secondary--I hear about a 44/50 maybe helix (pardon my clutching ignorance).

Thanks for everything!

I may have some of this already in the SLP clutch kit I bought last year--or I will get them.

I MOD MY OWN WEIGHTS, I HEAR THE DALTONS ARE WELL LIKED. SOMEWHERE ON THIS SITE I POSTED PICTURES OF THEM. THE REAR HELIX IS A 48/44 FULL OR A 50/44 FULL . YOU CAN RUN THE STOCK SPRING WITH THE 48/44. I SWITCH TO THE 140/200 SPRING WITH THE 50/44 HELIX. IM ASSUMING YOUR NOT STUDDING THAT 1.5 .?

No studs. Ill try the 140/200 secondary spring and the 50/44. What would you say are the differences overall in the two setups you described?

Hey doc n, or bigfuse or brock or anybody running 1.74, is the dogleg too much for aggressive riding? Have any of you broke a chain??

Dog leg isn't bad in the 1.74 ratio. Nothing to worry about..
It's just the 1.73 ratio has less dog leg.
I should have worded it like that. Sorry for confusion.

This chart shows the slack of chain in the column. It can be .25" to .75"

I always like the biggest sprocket on bottom you can get. But this center to center has a limited supply vs the pro r and dragon year's.
My favorite is the 1.71 ratio. But, it's not applicable.

Hope that helps

Don't worry about the 23-40 dogleg. Same amount of dogleg is on the Pro X and it is meant for harder ditch banging.
