Indy 600 clutching

Glad to hear your mopping up with that set up!!

With that gearing you should be able to get away with 65 grams. Otherwise, you know, the 600's love 64 grams if everything else is right.

Some of our fastest 600's set ups turn 8350 on the top end. Every sled runs a little bit different. Some like it, some don't. Sounds like you have it figured out.
Springs to stiff to go bigger weight running around the 8200-8300 mark

120-310, 10-64, 140-220, 46-42F. short mid range roll ons are 8200rpm going up the slope. smoother than stock clutching. Better mid range pull. 11-64 next. Good call on the helix Dr.

I got around 75 trail miles on the 15 Indy 600 with this setup yesterday. 11-64's, blk/grn 120/340 primary, 46-42f helix with 140/200 sec spring and stock 22-40 gearing, 1 inch Hack with 120 1.175 Woodys Gold Diggers trail studs. Track loose chain adjusted.

Full throttle rpm would hold consistent at 7,950 with occasional flash to 8,000 but never holding it. Next time on it will be in 2 weeks. I need 150 to 200 rpm. Thoughts? Back to the 10-64's, 20# more on the secondary finish?

Dave, I'd try the 10-64's. that should give you a couple hundred. If the back shift feels soft try the 140-220. sounds like the 11-64's act heavy.

Are you running electric start?

Yes I have e start that is why I left the 120-340 spring in for now. I will probably change it to a 120-310 for next run.

310 finish will bring the RPMs down more. I found that a FP Helix needs hero snow to function as it should. So along with the "heavier acting" weight of the 11 series weight, and the FP helix, IMO this is why you are having low RPM issues.
Just change out the weights to 10-64s and it should gain 100-200 RPMs

A few minutes ago I was going to disagree then you changed from 66 to 64

Put over 500 miles on over the week end on the combo I posted earlier. Groomed fluffy powder 8200. Early morning groomed hard pack at 5 degrees 8250-8300. Stock gearing and Gates belt.

Not yet Dave, hopefully this weekend. I'm a little worried that they'll be heavy. I may shave a gram off before dropping them in. lol

I wonder if the 11's actually need more tip weight?

Good point. They look quite aggressive through the bottom and mid range. I have a 140-310 primary spring that may help carry my rpm to the top end. I'd like to see 8250-8300 way on top.

It seems we all are shooting for rpms at 8,200ish. Polaris specs 8,250 rpm +0-250. Every DynoTech on the Indy 600 shows max hp @
7,800 ='s 114.2 with max torque @ 7,600 ='s 78.5 on a 2014, with similar numbers on a 2013. These numbers are for the AMSnow Shootout with fresh sleds that may pull more hp after break in.The AXYS pulls more hp but has different head part #, different pipe#. Are we overeving the Indy 600 at 8,200?

Race porting, twin pipes ultra high compression and race gas, and tune carbs and clutchs for every 10 degree temp swing. After they outlawed those 600 mods Tim Bender was selling several of those motors. Get a hold of him.
