Clutching and gearing

It can pull that but you will have to have higher engagement then you will want on the trail. That's not a good choice, if you want fast trail turn to turn, then keep the two angles closer together. Say 48-44 full, or 50-44 full. I used a 58-46.46 last ur on the lake and worked well with big chisels

thanks doc. I have the 50-44 full already. Sorry I didn't mention it but just didn't know if I should change the angles for the extra power. Thanks for all the help. I love this site, its right to the point and no beating around the bush with the info giving. Keep up the good work!!!

Ur welcome if you run the 50-44 out back the 140-200 spring works well, the stock spring works with the 48-44 f. What are you doing up front?

Well Doc, Right now I have stock spring and 68 belly busters. I find the engagement is low but the sled ripped bigtime last weekend. I got it to 110 on the railroad bed and still in break-in. I'm going to get a little stiffer spring to bring up the engagement in the 4000 range and probably going to get some 70 weights. I'm not a fan of adjustable weights, rather have solid ones

Yup! A 16 pro s ltd. I was skeptical about getting it because there's been a few 15's around and some are good hard runners and some are just complete dogs. But so far so good!

Now that winter finally made it to new England I should be riding in a week. Im fairly new to clutch tuning and I made a lot of changes to my sled (with the help of you guys on psp). Geared to 1.74 with iq roller, 120/310 w/cutler adjustables, 50/44 with 140/200 sec, and gates belt. Checked clutch alignment, belt clearance, track tension. Im pretty confident that you guys steered me in the right direction but if I have any problems I need to know how to troubleshoot. Im guessing the only problem I will encounter will be rpm's. I've read to keep throwing weight to it till it falls on its face then back off. Anything else I should keep in mind????

The ones that are suffering is in the cvt system, it's not the engine performance. Poor set ups and inconsistent polaris belts, tall gear ratio, primary qc..
Anyways.....

Yes. The majority of us midwest trail riders still have no real snow to ride. So we need pics of you out on the trails.

What solid weights you guys like the best? I've been buying EPI belly busters. Should I stay with that type?

I went out for a ride today and sled goes good! I installed the 50-44f helis with 140-200 spring. My primary clutch has stock spring with 68 gram weights. So when I had the stock helix and spring it pulled 8300 all day long. Now with the 50-44f helix its down to 7900 to 8150 rpm. I wonder if I put a stiffer spring in the primary if the rpm will go back up.

I would try a 120/300 polaris blue in primary and a 140/220 spring in secondary.

You have to much helix for the primary and secondary spring in my opinion

I would just try a primary spring first youll be going from a 270 too a 300 that should more then adequate for getting your rpms up ......

Your front clutch is shifting to fast and the rear is loading to hard. If you slow the front down the rear will react better. That front spring is junk. Also make sure you dident put it in the 52-46 position, that would load it hard too. Clutching is about balance, you dident put the complete set up in but, you felt the result and that's what's important here, ur learning.
